I was shocked when I read this. I didn’t know of his first open heart surgery in2013 and now he has to go throughthis again…
Glenn’s voice is still fantastic. I’m very happy that I had the chance to see him live on solo tours, with California Breed and BCC (I even have a small appearance on the live dvd). I wish my favorite singer of our time all the best, a good recovery and hope for BCC VI the next years ![]()
What a blow. He was doing so much—50,000 things—right up until yesterday, and now I read this… I’m so sad; let’s hope he doesn’t suffer any of those past relapses… though maybe he’ll just keep working in the studio—who knows. Best wishes, G.
I had the honor to see him live no less than three times (1999, 2007 and 2017) and he was always stellar. An amazing talent.
I hope surgery goes well and he achieves full recovery

Unfortunately it was clear that something was not right with Glenn’s health after the cancellation of 2 pieces of tour… the hope is that his health returns almost to normal and allows him to enjoy a life “as a normal person”, even if for a famous musician it is difficult to give up his life on stage.
I suspect he will come back in one way or another.
This is a shame - I’ve never been a massive fan, but there are a couple of his solo albums I play a lot and I’ve seen him live 5 or 6 times. Last year was by far the best show, simply as he sang rather than all the vocal screeching and ooohing he’s done previously. I hope he fully recovers, but health must come before career.
He isn’t my favourite but I know so many of you like him, so of course I’ve taken the time to listen to him.
And he is a fine singer, and I hope very much he will be well again ![]()
Glenn Hughes is an almost 75-year-old with a decades-long drug habit, though hopefully permanently past him. Just his survival so far is not much short of a miracle, and given that Glenn’s voice has been phenomenal up until the most recent times, I would classify that as one. So in that sense I can only hope and expect him to get better and get back out there, and if he doesn’t, it’s still decades more than would have been realistic to achieve.
It could be more likely that he focuses on studio music, but never say never…
