What are some nice bands from your city, or your state, or even not yet known abroad, that more people should listen to?

In São Paulo, Brazil, there is a great band named Picanha de Chernobill that plays every Sunday on the street. They have a captive audience that goes there every week for ten years, buys their albums and goes to the bigger shows they get invited to do.

They are straight up in my corner: heavy rock with blues and a hint of Brazilian rhythms sometimes. Just guitar, bass and drums. They do some covers and some of their own songs.

Here they are completely at home, in the middle of Avenida Paulista. On Sundays, the city blocks cars that busy avenue and it becomes a 2-km park and stage in Brazil.

A few months ago, a local kid was passing by Avenida Paulista and asked to jam with them. It was Andreas Kisser, the Sepultura axeman.

Chaves (and often Seu Madruga) somehow became a national Brazilian hero for two or three generations!

I hope to see Kisser doing more. Here he’s playing Burn in an unlikely cover band with Ed Motta in a Rock in Rio 14 years ago.

I believe Paula is a vampire. She stills look like she did 30 years ago, and probably that’s due to a diet made up of fresh blood.

Paula is 64 and her band played the original Rock In Rio festival, back when it was about Rock and it happened in Rio.

Very same festival where a still young David Coverdale fronted the last great Whitesnake lineup (consisting of John, Neil, Cozy and himself, plus random offstage keyboard player).

Just tying up facts with no apparent reason, sorry :smiley:
