So, yes…

On the back cover of the “Powerhouse” LP the famous LUNCH WRAPPER (in caps no less) is mentioned upon the opening track “Painted Horse”, referring of course to the Harmonica IG plays on it.

But, where the hell did that coloquial term originate?

What does it mean, like a Tin Foil thing resembling the metal instrument?

It supposedly comes from the BBC In Concert 1972 recording, just after “Lazy” when DJ Mike Harding mentions it, calling it “Harp”, “Gob Iron” and, after Ian interjects _something_, “Lunch Wrapper”.

But…did Ian really say that?

An extremely important piece of historical content that should be unWrapped (sorry could not resist) before AI takes over.

Care to enlighten me on this subject, anyone please?

Best regards,

Julio [Still on Topic].-

just what it was probably ‘wrapped’ in Julio. I always think of the poor sod who has to clean those sort of instruments. That stems from a Ian Anderson comment or joke I think it was, many many decades ago in regard to the flute. 'Pity the poor bugger who has to clean it every night, he he he. Oh well, sorry not very helpful there at all. Cheers.

Ha ha ha ha…indeed. Most probably a poor roadie I would imagine. They do all the ‘hard’ work.
