That is true, Flavio.
You need to either type a space after the [full, non-abbreviated] link, **or** , press the square “Load preview” icon Mr. Nick shows above.

Doesn’t work with me! Neither the space thing nor the “load preview” get-around. All very weird because initially embedding worked no sweat here both with abbreviated and non-abbreviated links and I haven’t changed anything so someone else must have. Maybe an update gone wrong?
Maybe also something to consider for the next update the providers of the software do. A lot of other fora have a YouTube vid embedding function icon that seems somewhat foolproof even for challenged boomer users like me.
BTW, I can also still only log in on my iPhone, not on my android laptop/tablet (Lenovo), where my “Stargazer” moniker (nor my email address) is apparently not recognized (nor do I automatically stay logged in like on my iPhone). Only site that does that. I’ve consequently given up trying to access it other than with my iPhone. This might be state-of-the-art what we have, but it is also fickle. I like reliable simplicity over functions I don’t use.

The abbreviated [youtu.be](http://youtu.be) links are blocked from oneboxing because they lead to a redirecting page. This is necessary to ensure that all links are transparent and lead to the final destination. I don’t see a way to exempt a specific domain from that requirement. So, the bottom line is: if you want to render a yt preview, post a full link (and preferably without the tracking crap like `si=...`).

How do I get a full link on an iPhone if the YT site automatically provides me with just the abridged link?
And in any case, even a forum software as archaic as the SMF one

Thanks, that was neither easy to understand nor did it help any. You don’t write instruction manuals by any chance, do you?☝🧐
If I copy the long YouTube link on my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 (where I have to laboriously use the email option for the password because the site doesn’t recognize the name/email/password combo that works fine on my iPhone) using Chrome rather than Safari, this is what I get, alternative 1 is with using the insertion icon offered and alternative 2 is without it.

Needless to say it didn’t (knowing this I avoided attempting it until now, but my negative expectation was just 100% fulfilled 😂).
I still don‘t get it how this is supposed to work. Even with long link copying as recommended above the vids don‘t embed and they take ages to load without being embedded
That is a real glitch of the site and I have never encountered it anywhere else where embedding is supposed to be possible. Frustrating also that it is apparently not perceived as an issue that needs to be fixed. Frankly, just pasting the link on the THS site threads works better. They don‘t embed either, but at least they work.
There are other things that have me scratching my head, like navigation is needlessly complex, not intuitive and that you have to scroll all the way to the end of a thread (rather than starting there) unless there is a new unread post. I know the software is supposed to be hot shit, it escapes me why, it’s the worst I have yet encountered (and I have so far only encountered it here).
Compared to this here, “old-fashioned stuff” like this here

is a user-friendly miracle in its foolproof application.

PS: Is it a conspiracy theory when I hold that the forum software’s ungainly nature is likely an intended or unintended barrier to more people participating here?
PPS: And while we’re at it: On my work Lenovo Thinkpad my name, email, password combo for this forum is never recognized by it (they work only on the iPhone) so I have to accesses every time via the link sent per email option which is frankly clumsy. Now it can of course be held against me that that I am a digital Neanderthal, but the thing is: My undeniable disabilities do not result in issues in any other forum I frequent. 🤗

**That‘s exactly the thing** , Julio, **initially** embedding worked here no sweat (even with abridged links) - until it all of the sudden didn‘t anymore (I hadn’t changed anything - when something even halfway works, I sure don’t mess with it just to enhance or customize performance).
I blame the side effect of a forum software update which, however, does not affect everyone.
PS: And the gentleman you mentioned has a very efficient 24/7 IT Helpdesk with his firm! 😂 But their job isn’t to help me with bad forum software.

If you want even an attempt for any kind of support, you’ll need to provide the following:
1. date and time (including the timezone) when it happened
2. your IP address at the time (can be obtained from [https://whatstheipaddress.com/](https://whatstheipaddress.com/) or any other similar site)
3. which browser you are using (and its version too)
4. exact sequence of your actions

Nick, I‘m sooooooo looking forward to being breastfed by you, yummy!!! But please shave, I find hair with my food unpleasant.
1. Embedding YT vids does **consistently not work** for me since July, it did until then without me doing anything different. Initially I simply thought that Doug in one of his disciplinarian forays had inactivated embedding just for me and Karin, but he continues to deny both responsibility & culpability.
2. 2003:fe:3f22:db00:6433:9dd9:e225:3ba3
3. Google Chrome on my Lenovo ThinkPad, Apple‘s Safari on my iPhone, both newest versions, we get updated automatically by our IP dep.
4. I used to copy the abridged or non—-bridged YT links and the vids would embed without further ado (as they do in all other fora I visit), see my initial post above which opened this thread - and now (= since end of July) they simply don‘t anymore here.

Located near Munich’s Old Town - also near Clifford Chance’s branch offices, though that must be a coincidence…
As a side note, I like my chicken breasts big and juicy (it was important to comment).

Exactly, it is not embedded. It appears as just a link in blue font.
I’m (thankfully) nowhere near Munich, a city I despise for its utter shallowness! (I prefer Berlin, Berlin is edgy and metropolitan, Munich is Pleasantville for international tourists.) The last good thing that happened there (and was witnessed by me) was the Rainbow 🌈 gig in 1977!

I hope Coverdale, the working men’s club brawls-schooled Northerner, gave Blackmore a real sucker punch for what he did (ornamenting Coverdale’s hotel room door with black magic crap and inadvertently giving DC’s wife Julia a real scare when she stumbled across it) - Blackmore‘s legendary practical jokes had a real unpleasant top-down quality to them, nobility having fun with serfs so to say. As the spaghetti incident amply showed, he was never too good at handling practical jokes himself. A friendly jolt into the solar plexus was then likely enlightening/educating for Ritchie, especially given how he himself was always chickenshit about physical altercations - likely worried about his delicate fingers.
