Rainbow "Memories In Rock" gigs / new music

 That, lieber Daniel, is an understatement of no less than millenial proportions.

Singers have been singing songs in alien languages literally for millennia. At what point did your righteous indignation over Romero’s accent boil over?

As your alter ego likes to say, free your mind, and the rest will follow =)

I don’t mind a little “coloring”, but Ronnie Romero made even Klaus Meine sound like an English professor from Yale. Das heißt schon was! :joy:

I’d like to hear a full album of Ronnie singing in Spanish, I like Spanish music.

Apart from the accent, I had serious doubts he actually understood what he sang at Loreley - to be fair and open-minded: he’s improved a lot since then.

Alter ego? Ok, is Stargazer then Mr Hyde or Dr Jeckyll?

Are you talking about the guy working as a church organist who didn’t know who RB was before he was called upon to join the band? That he would be more familiar with RB’s rock style than Johansson, who has worshipped at the altar of DP and Rainbow for most of his life?

I don’t know whether he played church organ or not, but he played with Ritchie for ages, had an alert ear and was - whether sober or drunk - relaxed on stage (I saw him often enough, he had musical feel and could hold his ground playing an organ solo in rockier parts).

With all due respect to your good countryman Jens J, he was every time a deer, no a moose in the headlights when I saw him. I know he’s good, but his position with Los Rainbows was jinxed, poor guy.

Thanks, I honestly have no bones to pick with how this guy plays in BN. He’s very in tune with Ritchie and we all know how Blackers can be a little erratic and veering off tangents live (even when he’s sober; when he’s not, it’s worse! :joy:). I think there have been more run-of-the-mill players in Rainbow and I’m not just thinking of Jens’ failed stint.

Knowing Blackmore, the reason he didn’t make it into the Reunionbow line-up was probably because he’s a little chubby.

I would definitely like to see these guys live (now we’re talking about non-English-speaking musicians).

Ouch!! that is painful to watch.

To quote This is Spinal Tap
“Well, this is thoroughly depressing.”
“It really puts perspective on things, though, doesn’t it?”
“Too much. There’s too much fucking perspective .”

As Dio era Rainbow tributes go, these guys from the Land of the Rainbow Rising Sun have always been unbeatable. They are uncanny in catching the vibe.

If you squint, you can hardly tell the difference. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :rainbow:

Only when they sing “Long Live Lock’n’Loll” or announce “Oul next song is Talot Woman flom Lainbow Lising”!

(What an awful uncalled fol steleotype that was. I’m tellible.)

I saw the gig in Birmingham 2016, and Sweden Rock 2019. I have to say to say that because of the atmosphere in Birmingham, everyone singing along to Stargazer, it gave me goosebumps. In hindsight it wasn’t that great a gig, but at the time I was satisfied and think it was a superior gig to the opening show in Germany.

2019, I didn’t have high expectations, but I’ve got to hand it to Ronnie Romero, he was really on the money on that show. He made the show for me, the band (including Blackers) was so and so. 2016 was better in my humble opinion.
