What happened to the Pointer Sisters….
I have seen Gov’t Mule several Times, fantastic live band, always in for jamming and playing lots of covers too…Warren Haynes is a legend of his own
Adding to Martin’s:
Effin’ amazing band!
Their New Year’s Eve '98/'99 [mostly covers] live album. “With a Little Help From Our Friends”, is legendary…
Cheers, J.-
You meant Hot’ Lanta ![]()
Well, most of them (the original lineup) died.
Only Jaimoe still lives…one of the drummers…
Returning to the topic “Why are you here?” ![]()
Born 1961 in the GDR, my first DP song I can remember is the, at this time, new single “Never Before”, played in the Radio show Schlagerderby at Deutschlandfunk (I wasn’t impressed ;-)). My first LP was this one: Deep Purple - 1976 - AMIGA 855562 . The next years the only chance to expand the collection was taping various (GDR) radio shows and the few records friends got their hands on, mostly from their relatives in Western Germany. 1985 I bought PS, released by Czech label Supraphone. After the Fall of the Wall the collection quickly expanded (till now). My first DP related concert was Ian Gillan on his “Naked Thunder” tour at “Huxley’s neue Welt” in Berlin, followed by DP Berlin 1991, 1993, 1994. Moved to Munich in 1998 I was reading regularly alt.music.deep-purple (without contributing) and one day I detected THS and bookmarked it. I’m follolwing the site since then, rarely contributing with posts or a review. If possible I’m attending DP shows in the neighbourhood, meanwhile together with one of my sons. Now we are looking forward to London ![]()
It’s never too late to start ![]()
Welcome to the club!
The DP Amiga pressing - cult object! Especially for the back sleeve notes which elevated the British tax-dodging multi-millionaires to the level of Klassenkämpfer and chroniclers of capitalist decay. I got mine in exchange for three regular western DP albums, the guy only wanted two, but I added one more because I felt guilty taking it from him given how rare the album (only a limited pressing under a limited license) was even in the Arbeiter- und Bauernstaat.
Willkommen Genosse Thomas - sei bereit, allzeit bereit!
Hi ya ![]()
And Whitesnake….
(Well someone had to mention that!)
This woman turned from Saula to Paula … ![]()
Nice play with names…

Aren’t you a tiny bit impressed how my ‘Saul’ persona transformed into loving all the brotherhood, and I’ve stopped the stoning of those people who had a liking to other singers than Ian?!![]()
I am. You have atoned for your manifold sins, Sista K!
A little bit relieved!
However, I will always prefer Ian to any other professional singer.
But David Coverdale was really good too..
Dio on the other hand… ![]()
Don‘t start!
Or you‘ll be punished in the heat and the rain, with whips and chains …
Don’t Start!!
Entre nous: have I ever been afraid of that?
I guess it’s because Dio spoke (or sang to be accurate) to the male population, of which I don’t belong. So I guess I’m free (as a bird?) to have my very own opinion re that talented singer.
And yes, he has to be talented since so many of you adore him. I just do not. But that shouldn’t take anything away from how they like him.
Me? I’m just a goofy blonde from Denmark with a penchant for too much coffee and a very big smile every single time I listen to this bloke:

Kinky… maybe keep that side of your life private ![]()

What century are we in again and what‘s wrong with kink anyways?
But it’s only a small step from an idol for adolescent INCELS to general prudishness. We Judas Priest fans are more liberal at heart. ![]()
