Baggins here with my first post to this forum with a question that I’ve been meaning to ask for a very long time only because I haven’t known where to go to ask. I figured that this would be a good place to start, at least.
I have an mp3 file with the whole Machine Head album on it that includes unedited raw versions of each song on it. The songs appear to me to be the final takes before editing and whatever else they do to songs to make an album ready for the presses.
Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Thanks in advance!
Depending on when the tracks are from, they are likely to be the “re-wired” quad versions that were out as bootlegs i the 70s/80s or modern AI manipulations.
By “re-wired” I mean the original taper messed around with his speaker cables to get the different audio channels into a different order. I’m sure there’s a technical term for this, but I don’t know it.
I’d very much like to share it with whomever wants it but I’m not even sure how to attach and post an mp3 file. Any other way that I can accommodate, please let me know. It’s a 50 mb file.
Not sure if with all the legal matters it’s ok to do it here. Is it? If so, I have lots of interesting mash-ups and remixes of DPF items that I could share here to stir you all (and the discussion) up. I agree with Doug that up to, say, 2024 bootlegs were as they were generated over the years. Now you might come to get ANY content technically manipulated by AI and not having anything in common with real tape or happenings. Like those YT clips of Jimi Hendrix two hour jam with Janis Joplin or Ozzy scurrying with bottle in hand to the studio to interrupt Gary Moore’s session in 1981.
That being said, it is indeed not a good idea to post an entire album here, might raffle some feathers with the record company that owns it. You can post an excerpt (a couple of minutes should do) that illustrates your point.

I also noticed within a song or two (not sure which one) there is an extra bar on the initial that was taken out by them. All and all, a nice addition to one’s collection.
