Mark Morse
Purpendicular extra track. Don’t hold Your Breath. Japanese release only. An ideal candidate for adding to a Purpendicular anniversary issue. Not strictly unreleased. The Purpendicular tour book had a diary of the recording and “The Stallion” is specifically mentioned as complete with solos. The DPAS reported that it was scheduled for release as a b-side. Elsewhere Roger writes that “16 songs in the mixing process”. The album was 12 tracks plus Don’t Hold Your Breath and The Stallion means there must be two more unreleased tracks.

Soeul
2nd April 2000. 5 tracks which Appears on the Made In Korea bootleg.
Japan TV
Mar 2000. The band were in Japan on a short tour and seemingly (it’s not accurately dated) appeared on Japanese TV for a short interview and what may or may not a live but shortened version of Smoke. IP drops a drumstick at one point but still manages to hit the snare!
ZDF TV “Gottschalks TV Welt” - GERMANY
3rd Feb 2000. A special TV show. The band played short but powerful versions with a great sound of; Black Night, Ted The Mechanic, Bloodsucker, Woman From Tokyo, Fireball, Perfect Strangers, Strange Kind Of Woman and Smoke On The Water. Didn’t appear on YouTube until 2024 and it’s definitely worth a look. Very punchy Black Night and SKOW.

Berlin
20th August 2003. The TV show was bootlegged on Bananas and Other Fruits. Would be a great accompaniment to a re-released Bananas CD as they play Silver Tongue, Contact Lost, Haunted, Bananas, Well Dressed Guitar, House of Pain and I’ve Got Your Number. All with good sound.
Brazilian TV
19th September 2003. Filmed in a TV studio, and interviewed between tracks by a very portly host, live versions of Haunted and I’ve Got Your Number – which was brave!
Basel Avo session
14th November 2003. Filmed for TV and bootlegged on Baselnanas. The TV show is only an hour and misses a chunk of the set. As per Berlin would be a great addition to a Bananas re-issue. The set has lost Haunted but gained Doing It Tonight.

Ian Gillan – Highway Star, A Journey in Rock
Featured 4 gigs all soundboard recordings from 2004 on the Bananas tour; 21st October Moscow, 22nd October St. Petersberg, 14th November Cardiff & 17th November Plymouth. The audio for these is great and the band is on top form.

Rockford
2nd July 2005. Live gig the same day as Live 8.
Provenance unknown could be a radio broadcast but a potent if short set with Leslie West guesting on Smoke.
Festival les Vieilles Charrues
22nd July 2005. Filmed for TV. 40 minutes or so are on the net. Wish it was more as they are in good form. Great Keys solo from Don.
Dusseldorf
3rd September 2005. SKOW, Demon’s Eye (good performance), Rapture and Guitar have appeared on the ear music website and good sound. Rapture & Guitar could easily have been added to the Rapture remix issue. Shame.
Hard Rock Café, London
10th October 2005. A sort of launch party for Rapture release. 5 tracks were added to the Tour Edition release which leaves Fireball, I Got Your Number, Strange Kind Of Woman, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye, Lazy, Hush and Black Night unreleased. Something of a mystery why Kiss Tomorrow wasn’t added to the Rapture remix release – it should have been.
DPOY Fireball https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLjZRkEfQGQ&list=RDpLjZRkEfQGQ&start_radio=1
German TV
23rd November 2005. Rapture filmed in Cologne TV studio with Michael Bradford on guitar. Gillan not in great voice.
German TV
26th November 2005. This time in Berlin again with Bradford. They played Smoke but may have been mimimg.
Montreux
July 15th 2006. The official release everywhere except Japan omitted 5 tracks; Well Dressed Guitar, Perfect, Hush, Black Night and a loose jam called Too Much Fun dedicated to and played with Funky Claude. An internet search sometimes generates Montreux 2007 including Smoke of the DPOY ! Don’t be fooled it’s actually 2006.
French TV
6th Nov 2006. They played Smoke & Rapture on France4 “Taratata N° 202” and aired on 5 Jan 2007. The Purple segment is either side of a Motorhead section.
Bethlehem
9th August 2007. Full set, professionally filmed but with ok but not great sound. It might be the Rapture tour but only Things I Never Said and Rapture feature.
Zurich
18th December 2007. A private show for a, presumably, very rich banker which was filmed and appeared as a limited issue DVD. Whether or not this is a bootleg, despite seemingly being released with the approval of Thames Talent, I’m not sure.
Bologna
16th December 2009. Recorded for radio and bootlegged as Silent Night. It’s a shame the DJ has got verbal diarrhoea because the band are lively. Some clever soul has linked the soundboard sound to an audience video.
Los Angeles.
24th June 2011. Full set professionally filmed with an orchestra. Not the best sound
Sun Flower Jams.
8Th July 2011. Purple with Bill Bailey on cowbells played Smoke on the Water and it was a track on the combined 2012 & 2011 DVD release. Purple played an 8 song set which also featured Joe Bonamasa on Maybe I’m A Leo.
Finland + Oslo
7th December and 13th December 2011 respectively. Soundboard recordings that were bootlegged as Nordic Duology. They combine to make the 4th & 5th professionally recorded sets with an orchestra in 2011. Because of the requirement to align with the orchestra the performances don’t vary much if at all.
French TV
14th Nov 2012. Smoke On The Water played as a Jazz track on France 2 “13H” (13 heures). Good fun, a bonus track release.
Cologne
24th Apr 2013. All The Time In The World, ARD TV “Morgenmagazin” and Hell To Pay, Pro7 TV “TV Total”, Nr. 1889 ‘
Previously there was a link to Hell To Pay but it has disappeared
Rabat
30th May 2013. Festival in Morocco professionally filmed. The first two tracks are missing plus half of Hard Lovin’ Man. All The Time In The World and Live debuts of Vincent Price and Bodyline. Decent if not great sound.
Now what Live Tapes. The Tour edition had a live CD set culled 2013 gigs in Milan 21st, Rome 22nd July (this was a subsequent full release in 2019), Aalborg 8th August & Gaevle 10th August and those dates were also used for B-Sides to Jonny’s Band & All I Got is You single and I assume the whole sets were recorded. Black Night was a Classic Rock exclusive from Milan.
American TV
23rd July 2015. Smoke On The Water played in the street outside in Rockefeller Plaza, for the NBC TV “The Today Show”
Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
9th June, 2016. Rather lacklustre versions of Smoke & Hush.
BBC in Concert
16th November 2017. Full if shortish set filmed by the BBC. Six months or so after the release of Infinite they play Time For Bedlam, All I Got Is You, The Surprising and Birds Of Prey. Good sound, ok performance.
(I’m) A Roadrunner. Not strictly unreleased. An exclusive non album track from Turning To Crime, it was available both as MP3 and WAV download to all partners in crime members on the Deep Purple News mailing list, set up by Ear Music.
If you haven’t heard it follow the link to the end https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyyH6aUqQk0
Cologne TV
26th Nov 2021. A “live” version of 7 And 7 Is for German TV ARD “MOMA” (Morgenmagazin) which they managed with Steve Morse not there but playing. Not sure how!
=1 Box set vinyl
Much to my annoyance live tracks from two 2022 gigs – 29th May Sofia & 17th October Milan – were only issued on vinyl in the jaw droppingly expensive box set. My email to ear music imploring a separate CD release went unanswered. They might yet appear on the next album tour edition. I assume the whole gigs were recorded so the unused tracks are probably in the can.
Buenos Aires
28th April 2023. Full set professionally filmed. No Need To Shout is the only new track.
Not Soundboard. The following have been advertised on line as soundboard. They’re not
30th March 2000, Nagoya, “Furious Fingers”
19th May 2017, Munich, “First Night in Germany”
