Before Tommy, Satch and Steve, there was Spirit’s Randy “California” Wolfe…albeit for one night only!
But man, what a beautiful rendition of “When a Blind Man Cries”, the only one I know of sung by a young Ian, and do I hear pre-echoes of “You Keep on Moving” during Randy’s solo?? (around the 58:40 mark)
Yet another unique event in this crazy band’s history.

I’ve just got a copy of the proper, pressed CD bootleg. An absolute gem of a find, given we’ve known about the show since the 1983 Charlesworth book (at least that is where I first learned of it).
Who knows - maybe the gig with Rog on vocals will still turn up… or the one Chris Cross claimed he did 
Doug, how did you come across this gem? There was a little store in Vienna decades ago where i found some great japanese pressings of IGB but never any Purple stuff…
There’s a Japanese online dealer called Kent. Every few weeks, they hold an auction for last copies/2nd hand CDs, and I got it there. I was in Japan last year but could only find a CD-R version
