Turtle Island Shuffle

This is the off-Spotify thing I was listening to yesterday, and it was a joy. Jon’s comments, all the jamming, the joy the band exhuded when Steve joined.

Who was lucky enough to be there? @MacBeath , I believe?

How was it? What can you tell about that night?

Not sure I follow? I can’t see a link, but if this is the Turtle Island Shuffle, it was a studio jam recorded at Greg Rike Studios, Orlando, especially for the 1995 DPAS convention, and later released as a CD single by DPAS. It was the only the Gillan/Iommi CD compilation.

I wasn’t at the convention as I’d just started a new job and was skint!

Purple Island Shuffle? Wasn’t that a track for a charity cause IIRC?

It was recorded during the Purpendicular sessions for the Deep Purple Appreciation Society convention hosted by Simon Robinson in Sheffield in 1995. I was at the convention so we were the first people to hear MK whatever with Steve Morse. Those who attended were able to buy it as a very limited edition CD single and I still have it. Big Ian added it to the “who cares” charity CD he released with Tony Iommi in 2012

It was also available as a mail order for those who couldn’t attend. I also still have mine. Somewhere… :face_with_tongue:

So do I - and I know EXACTLY :face_with_steam_from_nose: where it is, I can pick out any Purple album within seconds from my kölleckshün. Some archival discipline bitte schön!

Nick streams his music through consciousness alone, that Bluetooth chip in his head works wonders!
