At that point in time (early 80s), I was playing German lyrics hard rock/Neue Deutsche Welle with FREITOD (we didnāt do any covers) and Brit Pop was still far, far away! My gun belt wouldnāt have fitted with an Oasis image either.

Our lead singer/rhythm guitarist, as low pc as I am, always proposed that I use the stage name āUvee Hit-Lureā \ : - = ( for a planned UK tour - in hindsight Iām kind of relieved that never came about and in any case I would indeed have preferred āUwe Ramoneā!
Joey (born Jeffrey Ross Hyman) was a Jewish kid from Queens, only he could get away with singing something like āIām a Nazi Schatzi, baby, yes I am!ā ā¦

It actually went back to my days at an American school where my classmates had issues pronouncing my name, turning it in either You-vee or You-vuh ā¦ (to their defense: it is next to impossible to pronounce it correctly for an Anglo-American speaker).
Ahhh, like Bowieās āV-2 Schneiderā, I get it!
I just googled the pronunciation, it is very similar to how we say āuvaā (grape!) here.

Talking of āstageā names, whatās with the pseudonym Uwe? I seem to recall a year or two ago you mentioning using your full correct name at THS and pondering why people use a ānick nameā. Obviously you have chosen a ānameā that you use to mock? Is this true. Stargazer indeed. Is it because you are rebelling against this forum idea and being pulled into line? The mind does boggle, it really does. Therefore you occasionally drop ādownā to the forum with a name that is not really worthy? Why not use your real name as you stated a year or two ago. Tantrums and throwing all your possessions out of the pram and even demolishing the pram in the process and then āsneakingā back in to keep an eye on the āunworthyā. Is this true? ? Cheers.
I thought using āStargazerā might confuse people and attract more Rainbow fans - my favorite - to the forum, no? Donāt you think it has a nicely deconstructivist air to it if I of all people use it? Corrosion and corruption is my forte.
āRitchieās Wigā and āDozy Dowelā were strong contenders as was āMitzi Dupreeā, but in the end I thought I might someday be able to license the moniker āStargazerā to some hapless Rainbow/Dio fan for an obnoxious amount of money!

Uwe, one of then mightiest powers of your posts on THS was bringing knowledge and really vast and wide amount of content, for which many of us truly adore you. Here it seems like you came to play Zeitgeist and swim against the tide, trying to derail the new system just because you donāt like the power to change (to quote Don Airey). Bring back the grace of age and wisdom and please transfer them here. Weāll make it a good place together. Trouble makers arenāt any good anywhere and youāre far too wise and (that other thing) too, to play the role that doesnāt suit you, our favourite German lawyer. So stop rebelling and start enjoying it here, entertaining everyone, including your unique self.
After all: there are only three things in life that you can be certain of - which is change, death and taxes. Two of these you probably donāt rebel at as a wise man. Taking on a change occuring - is even more useless. And thereās no law (unwritten or not) that can change that

I liked the Lawton years of Heep, the only time I saw them in the 70s was actually with Lawton on the Firefly tour. They were good and he sang well, but I liked the opener even better: Woody Woodmanseyās U-Boat (no doubt on the bill via the Trevor Bolder/Spiders of Mars/David Bowie connection):
Their mix of glam, art pop and emerging New Wave was right up my alley, their one and only album I still hold dear to my heart. Of course, the Heep fans were slightly befuddled by a short haired band in U-Boat boiler suits hitting the stage shouting āDive, dive, dive!ā while search lights were on them and playing āWham bam, thank you Māamā-Suffragette City as their last song.
