Uwe,
I agree, but note that is the early 90s iteration with Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan instead of Conrad Cronos and they had twin guitars and better production here ![]()

It may be that English is my second language, but “noise merchants” did not, for me and in this context, imply a negative appraisal, but a description. In any case, I’ve enjoyed Venom for what it is, an NWOBHM Satanic Blue Cheer if you will
and this cover is surprisingly spot-on without trying to recreate the original (which, for me at least, is often the first rule of recording a good cover version).
Ah, that explains it then, I didn’t know it was NOT Cronos, I heard that there were two guitars of course. The guy who sings has a gruff voice but sounds so much better than Cronos from memory.
NWOBHM Satanic Blue Cheer is a brilliant description! ![]()
Yes, but in Cronos’ defense:
Did Tony Dolan (or anyone here in this forum) ever get kissed in the lips by a gorgeous 21-year-old Kate Bush?
Well, Cronos did!!!

Oh man, and why didn’t the Esoteric Beauty and the Black Metal Beast live happily ever after?

Sadly not, Uwe!
He went running up that hill, made a deal with the devil.
While she, in turn, never toured again in her life.
Cheers.-

Thanks Flavio!
Interestingly, Bruce’s version is also backed by Dream Theater ![]()

From Kev The Cave’s desk…
Maybe she had a fur allergy? It happens.
Oh my, how could I forget the excellent Martin Miller and his merry German crew!
(And why didn’t Blackers hire these guys instead?)
Cheers, J.-
Now that is how you cover Deep Purple!!! Props to Martin for choosing three Morse Era tunes and choosing not to cover Smoke. That was ballsy, and so, so well done! You can tell he’s a die hard fan and loves Steve!
This is, in my opinion one of the best, if not the best covers of Child in Time i’ve ever heard.
It’s by Dutch hardrock band Navarone and it’s 15 minutes of sheer musical mastery.
Amazing! Thanks Jesper!
Checking their other covers now…
All the best, J.-
This is not technically a cover but it’s nice to hear the DP quotes:
Yes, it is JLT on vocals and Yngwie on banjo.
How about these Thai kids?
The drummer is surprisingly good. The guitar is too loud, so I can’t hear properly the keyboards, but the kid is not bad from all I could hear. But the girl who sings AND plays the guitar is the (highway) star here. She has been impressing audiences in some amateur music TV shows, as far as I could tell.
