Yeah, Karin, I like the new Stones album, very poppy and catchy, in fact it sounds more like a Mick Jagger solo than a Stones album. Andrew Watt (THERE WE HAVE THE DP CONNECTION, he played guitar with Glenn in California Breed!) does a good job with them. Jagger sings extremely well on the album as if he was out to prove something.

Hi Karin.

First, I should correct myself, the column was Dear Mom Russell, and it was a “matters of the heart” style section written by the mother of Jack Russell, frontman (and notorious bad boy) of the band Great White.

It was on RIP Magazine, one of the important ones of the era when Hard Rock and Glam Metal were at their commercial peak.

On it the lady advised young fans about romantic, family, fashion or personal issues. The fans (who were, I repeat young - i.e. not like us rock fans now) wrote letters (like, pen to paper, then sealed envelope and post office) and sent them to the magazine’s address.

She was much loved (both mother and son are gone now) and my girlfriend at the time, Claudia, loved to read her column (although she was an adult).

Let me know when Dear Aunt Verndal premiers!
